Sol & Kin is a mother-daughter brand born an inspired by the golden and orange sunset skies that we view everyday across the salty breeze coastline of Burleigh Heads. Originally from New Zealand the move to the Gold Coast in 2025 was an instant draw card to start Sol & Kin together and make it for moments that matter and with the people who matter the most. Sol meaning sun and Kin for daughter, making our brand that extra special.
Our vision was simple
Create something real. A label that encourages you to embrace your individuality, experiment with style, and feel effortlessly confident doing it. Sol & Kin is more than sunglasses, it’s a mindset. One that says you don’t need to follow trends to be stylish, you just need a killer pair of frames and the confidence to rock them.
Our WHY:
We started this journey because we believe everyone deserves to feel seen and of course we both love our sunglasses. Too often, “on trend” feels out of reach but style shouldn’t be exclusive. That’s why we bring a range of sunglasses that elevate everyday looks, bring edge to your vibe, and help you show up boldly, exactly as you are. Our range is developed to not only own 1 pair of Sol & Kin’s in your collection but own multiple pairs, maybe even share with your mum or your daughter.
Sol & Kin is for those that love style, and those fashion forward women or men who want to define their own moments, with their own style, with full confidence.
Meet The SOL & The KIN:
Meet Leo/Mother
A wife to 1, a mum to 3 and by trade a Financial Adviser who made the move from NZ to Burleigh Heads in January 2025 after selling their financial advice business. Though a seasoned financial adviser by trade, Leo has always lived and breathed fashion, she and her husband started a successful retail shoe store chain when daughter Shanae was a baby throughout NZ in the early 2000’s.
Leo voiced the dream of starting her own sunglass brand over lunch with girlfriends, but it wasn’t until she was surrounded by the breath taking sunrises and sunsets of Burleigh that her dream made waves into something real. Embracing her motto, “Own your style, define the moment,” Sol & Kin was born, bringing Shanae into the business to launch a mother daughter duo brand and to capture a youthful energy while creating meaningful memories together.

Meet Shanae/Daughter
Shanae, a 21-year-old creative with a serious love for trendy sunglasses. Shanae recently graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Communications, and now turning her lifelong passion for fashion into something real.
For as long as she can remember, sunglasses have been her statement piece to elevate her look, always believing the right pair of sunglasses can define your whole vibe, which is why you can’t just own 1 pair. Every summer her last dollar saved was spent chasing the perfect sunglass frame, always on the lookout for that perfect pair that made her feel confident, cool, and totally on trend that she’d wear and destroy for that summer season.
So, when her mum asked her to be a part of starting their own brand, she was 100% on board. Wanting to create sunglasses that blend trend driven styles and unique looks with everyday wearability pieces for those wanting the same fashion fixes as her. Shanae claims this isn’t just a small business, it's a reflection of her journey, her style, and her belief that everyone deserves to feel like the main character when they put on their chosen pair of sunglasses.
